David La Spina (previously featured here) is the type of emerging photographer I admire. Along with artists like Birthe Piontek, Boru O’Brien O’Connell (see interview here), Michele Abeles, and Matthew Sleeth (check out his temporary ‘Googlesque’ site) among others, I find their work to be not only conceptually challenging, but innovative enough to keep my interest in a medium that sometimes feels a little too obsessed with its own traditions. This is particularly ironic considering that almost all of these photographers use a large format camera, a way of producing pictures that is heavily rooted in, and emblematic of, what could be called a ritual of the photographic.

That being said, I came across some of La Spina’s new work titled Uberfraus und Hauses . Here is a selection:
